The First Steve Dodt, March 14, 1997December 1, 2023 Darwin’s Natasha Martin followed her Sprint Coach, Steve Dodt to Canberra in 1996. She trained with FAST until the end of the 1996-97 season. At the Australian Junior Track & Field Championships inn 1997, Natasha became FAST’s first Australian Medalist, finishing in third (bronze) behind Rebecca Murphy and Sonia Britto. Natasha’s personal best of 11.9s for the 100m remains the squad’s fastest time by a Woman. Natasha ran 12.06s in the Open 100m at the 1997 Arafura Games, winning her first international bronze medal behind Nova Peris (Australia) and Hoang Thi Lan Anh (Vietnam). Natasha won the Gold medal in the Open Women 4x100m at the same Championship. Natasha holds the Northern Territory Athletics record along with teammate Nova Peris in the Women’s 4x100m Relay, also set at Nationals in 1997. Sprint Coach News
