Canberra orchardist Steve Dodt, May 2, 2024May 2, 2024 Canberra Sprint Coach, Steve Dodt, enjoys the farming and growing of fruit and vegetables at home. From his balcony in Belconnen’s Town Centre, Steve cultivates fruit-bearing trees and shrubs for their produce. Steve’s annual crop includes a mix of apples, pears, apricots, plums, lemons, figs, strawberries and leafy greens. Steve’s childhood included growing up on a Mango Farm in Howard Springs, in the Northern Territory. His family cultivated over 11 different varieties of the summer fruit, providing a steady crop all year long. From his outback home, Steve developed into a champion athlete, training on the back paddock, and in the big smoke of Darwin on the grass track at Malak. As an orchardist, Steve understands the patience and processes required to cultivate a crop, a skill he brings as a Sprints and Hurdles Coach today. Steve couples this with his learned experience of how to be successful at the highest level of sport. Self-reliant living builds a can-do mindset and highlights the “whatever it takes” approach to coaching Canberra’s longest running sprints and hurdles squad, FAST Running. Sprint Coach
