{"id":569,"date":"2016-11-06T19:56:00","date_gmt":"2016-11-06T19:56:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sprintcoach.training\/canberra\/?p=569"},"modified":"2023-12-01T22:37:11","modified_gmt":"2023-12-01T22:37:11","slug":"top-of-the-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/sprintcoach.training\/canberra\/top-of-the-world\/","title":{"rendered":"Top of the World"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/fastrunning.com.au\/alumna-sue-bourke\/\">Sue Bourke<\/a> has become FAST Running&#8217;s first athlete to compete at a World Championships and only the second to represent Australia since Matt Walters, by competing in her first World Masters Athletics Championships in Perth (WA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sue set the competition alight with a blistering three medal haul from four events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The World\u2019s number 1 ranked 400m runner (W55) leading into the Championships, was a successful member of Australia\u2019s record breaking 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams. The Australian\u2019s collected the Gold in both events, defeating the highly fancied USA and German teams for the minor placings.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the individual 400m final, Sue (W56) improved on her preliminary time by over a second to win the Bronze medal, behind the younger Russian and the American sprinters.
