Weatherproof Coaching in Pursuit of Running Excellence

Canberra Sprint Coach - Steve Dodt

At FAST Running, it’s not unusual to see Steve Dodt jogging across a wet oval, stopwatch in one hand, resistance bands in the other, a tangle of mini hurdles slung over his shoulder. Rain or shine. Wind or frost. Whether it’s a chilly morning session or a twilight sprint under stormy skies, Steve is there — not just showing up, but showing what relentless dedication to athlete development truly looks like.

For Steve, coaching is never improvised. Every session is part of a broader plan — a meticulous, adaptive strategy built around each athlete’s goals, body, and story. And when weather, injury, or life gets in the way, the plan may shift — but the pursuit of Running Excellence never does.

You’ll find him kneeling trackside, analysing a hurdler’s stride pattern; on the infield with a 400m runner dissecting a race split; or at the finish line, eyes scanning for asymmetries in acceleration. It’s a craft, not a job — driven by a vision to build better athletes, and more importantly, stronger people.

Steve backs the next generation, no matter where they come from. Whether it’s a first-time teen athlete or a Masters competitor returning from injury, his commitment remains the same: bring belief, structure, and heart into every moment.

In a world where consistency is rare and shortcuts are tempting, Steve’s presence is a reminder that greatness isn’t found in comfort. It’s built — session by session — through vision, dedication, and a refusal to settle for anything less than excellence.
