Over the past month, Steve Dodt has successfully completed preparations for both the ACT Under 12 Years Track & Field Team and the ACT 13 Years and Over Australian All Schools Team, ensuring ACT’s best young athletes are primed for national competition.
Across four structured sessions, Steve delivered a blend of technical, tactical, and competition-focused training covering key events such as Relay Finals, Combined Event disciplines (100 m, Long Jump, Shot Put, and 800 m), as well as High Jump, Long Jump, 800 m, and 1500 m preparation. Each session was built around the individual athlete’s needs, with close consideration for their personal coaching relationships and training cycles — ensuring every athlete arrived at Nationals confident, healthy, and competition-ready.
In addition to athlete preparation, Steve also mentored several upcoming ACT coaches, integrating them into the Capital Athletics team environment and providing valuable hands-on experience in performance session delivery. His leadership extended beyond the track, engaging collaboratively with Team Managers, Capital Athletics staff, and their valued sponsors at Canberra Physio Clinic to deliver a cohesive, athlete-centred program.
In total, more than 100 nationally qualified athletes benefited from these sessions — reflecting Steve’s ongoing commitment to the ACT athletics community and his philosophy of combining high-performance coaching with personal development and collaboration.
